WARNING: There might be some SATC 2 spoilers in the following entry.
#1: I watched Sex and the City 2 on its premiere night! It was RIDICULOUS. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT MOVIE!? It was entertaining, don’t get me wrong. Every outfit and the shoes and the turbans and the lalala was great, but so over-the-top. I mean, it IS Patricia Field, what was I expecting.. but I mean, so racist. It’s not like 4 American women can go blazing into Abu Dhabi, yelling sex is okay and eating french fries under a burka is horrible and restricting to women. Eating french fries under a burka may be difficult, but you can’t go hating on another country’s customs and rules that blatantly when you’re going to another country for FREE wearing RIDICULOUS outfits and spending thousands of dollars like it’s nothing. CMON PEOPLE. Nonetheless, I was entertained. And Liza Minelli’s performance of “Single Ladies,” wow. That was classic. But she lost her breath like 8 times in that song.
AND, it’s so sad. Technology and make-up is not enough to cover the aging of all the characters. Not that I have a problem with age or aging!! I love it! But it was weird seeing all the wrinkles and botox, especially on the movie screen. I really hope they don’t make SATC 3.. cuz.. that’s… yea… but somehow.. I think I will still go and see it..
#2: The June issue of Vogue is very interesting. Lots of new layouts, trying to be new? different, hmmm? Blake Lively on the cover again… why?? hmm? She’s hot, no doubt. The editorial of her is pretty awesome, not gonna lie or deny. But she’s young and not a style icon.. I don’t really get it. Why was she on the cover twice within a year. Ms. Wintour, what’s going on in your bangs and bob, sunglass-covered mind? I would like to know.
AND, there was a super long editorial of Karen Elson and her White Stripes bf, which I absolutely loved. Shot by Annie Leibovitz and styled by none other than Grace Coddington, of course. My main womannnn, she’s awesome.
(from Fashion Gone Rogue)
Karen Elson always looks like she’s taken right out of the 1920s with her doll-like white white skin, thin eyebrows, and waifer-like body. She’s one of my favorite models. Always a pleasure to see her in editorials. I don’t like all the thin, identical, 14-year old looking models. They’re all the same and everyone’s like ooohhh I love her because she looks like a prepubescent girl and weighs 81 pounds.
My teeth hurt, but I will go and eat cookies. Farewell!
